Stop Auditioning into the Void
Stop launching auditions into the void, assess what may need work and start booking more often
Service Description
Let me preface this with, you could be doing absolutely everything right, and still not be booking. Though that's unlikely. As a coach, casting director and voice director specialising in Video Games and character work, I'm privy to where a lot of voice actors do go wrong when submitting auditions. Most professional voice actors have a booking rate of 2% in this saturated industry, many of which have a booking rate closer to 10% (currently mine is 8% across all areas of VO). I'm not here to brag or anything, but instead what I am here to do is to highlight some key areas that get your audition skipped in every stage of casting, what stands out in a good way, and what is frankly... horror story-worthy. If your booking rate is less than the going percentages, or you ARE booking frequently but want to check you're doing everything you can be, this lecture based class with Q&A could be for you! Covering these and more: - Sound quality - Acting quality - Understanding casting briefs - FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS - File naming - Which characters are for you? - Pushing your comfort zone - Reputation - Online presence - Things you can't control - Standing out in a good way - Knowing your genre and assessing style - Which voice actor class archetype are you, and how to work with your strengths and negate weaknesses (audiobook, video game, anime, commercial etc.) - Booking the room, not the character - Self directing and how to get your best reads If it turns out you have been making a lot of rookie mistakes, that's okay! You know now, and can work towards improving your audition quality so you stand a better chance of booking in the future. This will be recorded, all who sign up will receive a copy.
